We are literally a handful of people who felt the world needed a better way to manage groups. All the founders have managed sports and community groups using whatever automated and manual tools we could find. We wanted to create a website that any group could use to make their group more effective while minimizing administrative time. | | | How much does your service cost?
Your goup website and most services are free. We only charge for phone message broadcasts. | | | How do you support free services?
Well, advertising of course! But we don't send you junk email and install spyware on your computer. We only target sponsors who create products and services for groups. We forbid spyware and user tracking. We do not embed ads in email or phone messages. | | | Will you ever charge for your service?
Sometime between now and infinity, anything is possible. We may add some premium services at some point. We will do what is needed to keep this site up and buy groceries. For the forseeable future, however, this will be a mostly free website. | | | How do I upload an existing list?
You should not have to retype group member information since we offer several mechanisms for uploading existing computer based lists. GroupHut can read Word and Excel files, as well as ASCII text files. | | | Does text-to-speech really work?
For phone message broadcasts, GroupHut uses text-to-speech technology developed by Cepstral LLC (cepstral.com). The technology is more than suitable for sending important messages quickly. Does it sound like a human? Frankly, no, it sounds like a computer that does its best to sound like a person. Recipients will know the message is computer generated, but they will understand the message, which is the important thing. | | | Can I record my own message for phone message broadcasts?
GroupHut does not currently support this, but plans are underway to offer the service. | | | Do you have API's?
